I’ve had these frames for a few years now and have really loved swapping the photos in them from one year to the next. In our first house we had them split (two in the hallway and one in the dining space) but I’ve always known I wanted the three of them together eventually. When I saw our current house for the first time, I knew instantly that I wanted the three huge frames to be the center of that large wall space in our dining area.

I had this vision of a peaceful and family filled space and I really love the vibe these huge family photos give. I only change them out once a year so when it came to quality of the print, I knew I wanted clear and beautifully made images. My favorite part of having these pictures in our main living space is that none of the images in these frames are or ever will be posed. The candid shots are my favorite because it displays the persons true element and with my kids, it’s always high energy.

The frames are Ribba from IKEA. I went with the 19.5×27 and ordered 20×30 photo prints from unitprints.com. I am thrilled with the print quality and just had to trim a little off the top and sides to make the photos fit into the frames. I knew this would be the case though because as cheap as the frames are, they are annoying in size. I was thinking about doing black and white images in here for quite a while but the colors are already a muted neutral tone and ended up blending real well in our living area.

Obviously this may not always be the case because I have been and will continue to change them every August or September but the frames will hopefully always stay. I keep the old photos in the frames so once a year when I swap out the pictures I get to look back and reminisce on how little my babies were! But mostly I can’t wait for ten or fifteen years from now when I change out these photos and the first one I see is newborn Addison. It already make my ten year older heart sink a little but the sweet memories of printed photos will always be my favorite!

That’s a great way to show off pics of family! I love the large size. And I’m sure the geelings you experience every year when you switch are very special. Kinda wish I had done something like this when my kids were little.

My mom did a slimier idea with our school pictures. I find it is neat to pop open the back of the frame and look at pictures of myself from kindergarten to grade 12. What a cool way to decorate and save memories!
