A while back I asked on my Instagram feed if there would be any interest in me doing a home tour room by room. There was an extraordinary large amount of interest which was really awesome to see but also put a little pressure on me to get moving on completing the rooms that were only half done. While I’m still in the process of finishing up the bedrooms, the rest of the house is as close to being as decorated as it’s going to get until I decide to switch things up again 😉
The style I like for my house has evolved greatly over the years and homes we’ve lived in. Our first house we lived in was a really old house that we completely modernized and now, four houses later, we are living in a brand new house that I am bringing more rustic pieces into. It’s funny how taste in decor can change so much in just a few years.
Our home isn’t huge by any means but it’s the perfect size for our family. I love the open floor layout between the living room, eat-in kitchen and kitchen. It makes everything feel so more spacious. Since it’s the space we spend our most time in, I couldn’t wait to get this area decorated and feeling the most at home.
We already had our couches, coffee and end tables and area rug from our last house we rented and since those were investment pieces, we knew we weren’t going to be giving those up for new. The room is a little oddly shaped because of the extra space in the corner where the door is and the angled fireplace so we thought a bookshelf would be the perfect solution in the little nook corner space. I saw this one on Instagram in a single and I loved it so much with the wrought iron and wood together so when I realized it came in a double I couldn’t click purchase fast enough!
(The top shelf still needs at least one more sea green bottle I’m on the hunt for!)
After the pieces we already owned were put into the room, we still knew it needed one more piece and Andrew was set on having a reclining chair. I had been looking for only solid color pieces of furniture but him and I went on a date one night and wound up in a furniture store. Once we saw this beauty, we knew it would work so well in this room. I love how all the colors in the chair tie into the room so seamlessly. It’s the perfect not old looking or leather recliner that Andrew wanted to have so badly.
Despite the amazing windows in this room, we don’t get the greatest sunlight in here because we have a covered porch right outside that keep sun out real well so between that and me killing ever fiddle leaf fig tree in the past, I bought fake fiddle leaf fig and I love the liveliness it brings.
This is the only room in the house that has a TV so I love that when we have movie night, we have a warm cozy space to curl up in!
I tried to link everything on the bottom of this post but if there is anything I missed, leave a comment and I will let you know where it’s from!I hope you enjoyed a peak into our living room and I’ll be sharing the rest of our house over the next few months as rooms get finished off!
