The dining space in our last house had a very similar feel this one has so I was excited to already have an idea of how I wanted it set up but some things were still a little tough for me to figure out. I was on the hunt for a new dining room table when we moved into this house and I wanted a timeless piece. Something that was really well made and could be carried on for generations to come. It took a lot of searching but we found this distressed farmhouse dining table and I knew that it was the one. When we first got the table here it was a LOT of dark wood with the floors since we didn’t have a rug yet so we definitely had to get a light colored rug (despite how scary that sounds with kids in a kitchen!) to break things up a little. There were a lot of really great rug options but I ended up finding this indoor/outdoor rug that was exactly the kind I was hoping to find and it’s pretty easy to care for too, thank goodness!

In our last house we had these giant pictures in the dining area and I loved the statement it makes so I knew we would do them again in here. I am putting together a post all about these blown up pictures and will have it on here soon!

This console table I fell in love with two years ago and had it in the foyer area in our last house but we don’t have a space for it in the front hall anymore. It works out perfect in the dining room though so I’m glad I didn’t get rid of it. I still hadn’t figured out what to do with this area of the dining room since we moved in eleven months ago and it was slowly turning into a terrible hodge podge of stuff. I’ve been moving decor things around the house though and I took a couple things from the living room and scooped up some other pieces from stores to make a cute little fall display.

I love the textures and neutral colors that everything has and the greenery just pulls everything together. Also fun fact: I didn’t want to spend any money on another table runner so I grabbed a fall looking scarf from my closet and draped it on the table. You’d never know the difference and scarves are so much easier to fluff around on a table instead of just something that’s super flat. I still am looking to hang something on the window pane so if you have any suggestions I’m open to them!

There are still a couple things I’d like to change but I love how it’s turned out at the moment! My favorite things in the room is by far the chairs; they’re the perfect distressing and go so well with the rest of the room. I wanted off white fabric chairs so badly when we first were looking but I’m incredibly grateful we didn’t go with that and went with something much more kid friendly and easier to wipe down. It’s so fun to watch this room change with the seasons and I’ll be sure to share with you as I switch things up.
