around here things are getting very warm and toasty. the weather was in the 80’s this weekend and we had the most magnificent time outdoors. no boat this time but we had a magnificent morning at the farmers market in the morning on saturday and some friends over for a cookout and then an entire day spent at the zoo. i mean it was all outside stuff and our pale skin competing with the sun and all the good stuff.

around here i’ve been doing a lot of thinking and writing and just being in the moment.

around here boxes and stuff is strewn everywhere because i am still in spring cleaning mode of purging our stuff. stuff just weighs me down and stresses me out so i’m binning up boxes of just stuff to take to the thrift store for donations. it feels good to clean it all out. addison sends it all off with a hand wave and a “bye box”.

around here my to-do list is a mile long and just keeps on growing. i thrive on to-do lists but just when you think you don’t have anything left to do, you think of twelve more things. isn’t that how it always works?

around here we have family visiting in three weeks and it’s all addison can talk about. granted we talk about nana and papa every day anyways but still, now we can give an end date on it! as excited as i am to see for that weekend they’re here, i’m also dreading for the simple reason of having to have toe surgery again for the third time in the last three years. i mean really lord? can’t we just put this issue behind us already?

around here the shorter daylight hours are making it more difficult to squeeze in my walks after dinner. these walks have been my saving grace since i haven’t been doing my usual workouts so we may be switching it to pre-dinner walks before long.

around here i’ve been washing walls like a crazy person. i kid you not, i went around with a rag and bucket today and examined every wall, door, and molding in this house. this place is spotless and it feels so good to not look at the little smudges anymore. now to just do a bit of touch up paint in both girls rooms! project complete the master-to-do-list by november is well underway!

around here andrew has been traveling a bit more again which means i’m spending my days getting stuff done and the nights watching grey’s anatomy and working on diy projects. i just finished my christmas felt garland last thursday (eek it turned out so pretty!!!) and season ten of grey’s anatomy. on dock for tonight is powering through season eleven and working on knitting some more of the baby blanket.

around here i’ve got everything i want to use to decorate our new little girl’s room written down and ready to buy. now if i could just have unlimited funds to buy it in one big swoop and then be done with it, i would be one happy camper.

around here we watched mickey’s christmas this past weekend because it was just one of those days. and watching that movie made me want to pull out my wrapping paper and bows and presents i’ve already bought to start getting into the christmas spirit. alas, i held back but it was tough.

around here we are counting down the days until we go back to wisconsin to see our family and friends for a little holiday cheer. less than a month away!

around here i had big goals to be more consistent with blogging. and then i never got anything ready before i went to beachbody summit in nashville so there goes three days i missed. and then while i was at summit, i found out that andrew’s grandma passed away. so when i got back home on sunday i had 36 hours to unpack myself, repack addison and i, do six loads of laundry, clean the house, and find a place for jack to stay. all while trying to eat healthy and get enough sleep so i was ready to go at 4am when our alarm went off to get to the airport.

around here i haven’t had enough time to reflect back on everything that i learned at the beachbody summit. and it’s killing me because i feel like the information i want to remember is just slipping through my fingertips and there isn’t a darn thing i can do about it. but i’m making time while i’m here in milwaukee to sit and write and think and do. especially since all our family is right here at our fingertips and they are all soaking in unexpected extra time with addison.

around here friday is the only day that i had time to sit and write and blog. and this is all you got. sorry sweet friends and thanks for sticking with me. i’m hoping for better luck next week.

okay let’s try this again.

hi! i’m erin and believe it or not i will be with you the entire week! don’t believe me? i can promise, i won’t skip a day of blogging this time.

i really need to get better about this.

this is the week i will tell you all the fun that has been going on in my life these days. and i won’t skip a beat. there is one thing i will likely leave out but i’ll announce it soon. it’s exciting stuff.

so, this past week. let’s see. addison and i went on a playdate with some friends from our previous music class. we met them at a discovery world type museum and there is a section called itty bitty that JUST opened up for kids super recently. i’m telling you, the two kiddos had the best time too. i don’t even know how to explain it. everything was cray interactive and it was huge. it had water tables and tubes with air that sucked things up and spit them out on the other side and a vet (complete with X-rays and shots to give your pup). it had a miniature restaurant where kids could pretend to serve people and a grocery store and a firestation. it was so so cool.

in other news, i had surgery on my foot last week for the same issue that i had surgery on my foot for last summer. hopefully it will heal properly this time around and this won’t become an annual thing.

we had the best weekend too. our friends had us over for a cookout on friday night. then on saturday we went to the city fest that our town was hosting. and let me tell you alabama does fried food right. dare i say. sunday we had a few neighbors over for dinner, mostly a good excuse to fire up the grill. it was an easy and eventful weekend.

i have been reading up a storm lately and can’t wait to share with you all the good stuff i’ve been digging my nose into. i posted my summer reading list over on the good ole gram last week and i’m a good third of the way in already.

i finished the book the life-changing magic of tidying up by marie kondo in three days and today is the day i start the process of bags upon bags upon bags of filling from my house. i can’t wait to see the transformation it will take and i’m sure i will give a full recap once i complete it.

june is going to be a very good month. i can feel it in my bones.

around here we had a really really good weekend. between a new friend having a birthday party and neighbor having a cookout, and a playdate with a kindermusik friend, we may actually be making some friends around these parts. and it feels so good.

around here we had painters finish up a lot of painting last week and it feels so good to have it done. granted we are probably going to hire some other people to fix things the last painters screwed up on (like two different shades of white on the ceiling…yeah i was livid) but this place is finally starting to feel like home.

around here i’m wearing shorts all day every day. and that my friends is a beautiful beautiful thing.

around here i discovered iced coffee in a keurig and oh my gosh you all! i’ve had about three glasses and can’t stop won’t stop.

around here we have a few of our very closest friends coming in from wisconsin. they should be here in about one hour and i cannot wait. andrew is running around with a big ole smile on his face and with so much energy you’d think he just chugged a gallon of mountain dew. jack is running around throwing his toys in the air and catching them because he sees andrew excited and why the heck not. addison is screaming her little head off because we have a lot of energy and she’s adjusting to one nap and can’t quite figure it out. it’s havoc in this house.

around here it might be a little quiet because of the above. i’ll do my very best to make it here a time or two but if i don’t have a beautiful fabulous week my friends!

you can follow along this week on instagram if you’d like. i’m sure there will be an overabundance of happy pictures posted.

Ahhhhhh look at that swinging smile 🙂 Love it!!! I hope that you guys have a fabulous time with your friends in town!

I need to know how you make your iced coffee via Keurig! Do you just use a dark roast over ice? Have you tried the actual iced coffee pods – are they super sweet? From one iced coffee lover to another =)

Oh my goodness girl I was always curious how people did this too! I actually found Keurig cups made by Starbucks brand at Publix and all you do is brew it over ice and add creamer! I got the vanilla flavored one and it is sweet but they had a regular one too! Hope this helps my coffee loving friend!

around here i got home from my visit to wisconsin on monday and it felt so good to be back and see my little babes who plays with legos with a hood and minnie ears on. but seeing my girlfriend and her new baby gave me mad newborn fever. why can’t they stay that precious and tiny forever? and the twins? they ran circles around me. boy can those guys move.

around here we had 77 degree yesterday and i was running around in shorts and a tank top. today is 32 and rain/sleet mix. the heat is back on and i’m not loving it.

around here i’m taking pictures of the house and getting her in order for an update on this here blog of what she looks like. i know i said i would have it to you already but addison was so so sick (like everything she ate came back up) last week and sometimes life gets in the way of sharing the fun things.

around here…i had the BEST bloody mary with my mom when she dropped me off at the airport on monday. literally an entire meal in a glass. that might have to be a regular stop on the way to and/or from the airport from now on.

around here andrew and i got eachother the fitbit flex for our anniversary a week ago. now instead of watching a tv show at night i’m running around trying to get in the rest of my steps before the day is over. call me crazy but a little bracelet on your arm is the best motivation to get moving.

  1. March 5, 2015 / 10:15 pm

That is a lot of stuff in those drinks!!! And I love the accessories to play legos in 🙂 Perfect!

    This weather is nuts!

  2. March 6, 2015 / 12:43 am

Don't you just love Alabama weather? Haha Glad you made it home safe from Wisconsin!!

    • March 9, 2015 / 1:42 am

Lol. It's so weird. I thought only WI had bi-polar weather 😉
But I will take these 70 degree days we just had!!

i’m still looking back at christmas pictures over here.  just a little reminiscing because our house is scary quiet these last two days after having oodles of family here since december 16. plus i never shared any christmas pictures so…there you have it.

addison is having a blast in her teepee that santa brought her for christmas lately. she has everything set up in there, including her giant bear, teddy. lots of squeels come from that little corner of the living room. also those presents up there had to be documented because when andrew saw them, he said they looked like they were professionally wrapped. boy sure knows how to make me smile!

now that the new year is here, there’s lots of things to be done, meals to be made, water to be drank, and goals to achieve. i’ve also taught myself knitting so there is lots and lots of yarn to be knit. maybe they will eventually turn into something.

Looks like you had a fantastic Christmas — always nice to reminisce!! And my in-laws bought our unborn child that ginormous bear for Christmas as well!! That thing is staying at their house, that's for sure! It's huuuuuge!! Your little munchkin is just too cute! Those eyes!!

  2. January 7, 2015 / 8:14 pm

So fun that you picked up knitting! My mom taught me how to crochet when I was in college but I never had the patience to finish my projects and now I forgot how. Looks like you guys had a great holiday with family!

Around Here

Exercise is a dirty word.  I was going to write a post talking about working out when pregnant but the only words I could think of were more icecream, less sweat.

I sometimes post pictures of my best friends babies like they’re my own.  Don’t worry y’all, I’m still pregnant.

My belly button is two days away from being an outie.  It’s kind of grossing me out.

I’m 40 pages away from finishing my first book of 2014.  And I’m pretty proud of myself for reading it in under ten days.

Jack has been laying on my belly more and more lately.  Sometimes I wonder if he knows there is someone in there or if he just thinks I’m blowing up in the tummy area.

I got a prenatal massage tonight because I couldn’t take my back pain anymore and I feel like a million bucks now.

I have a total of three pairs of pants that fit me.  Including leggings.  And I have no interest in buying anymore since I only have five more weeks to go.  No one at work will notice right?

I already bought the skirt I plan to wear for a wedding at the end of May.  I like to call her motivation to get my rear in gear once the baby gets here.  Just call me Dr. Suess.

  1. January 9, 2014 / 12:42 am

The prenatal massage I had during my pregnancy was the most relief I felt until I had my son! It was so amazing lol!

  2. January 9, 2014 / 1:51 am

Good for reading! It's hard to do when you have little ones—but I feel it keeps me going. Even just taking a ten minute break every hour or two is a life saver.

Found you on my sister's blog–Life of Bon—

    • January 17, 2014 / 6:46 am

Exactly, even if it's just ten minutes before I go to bed. As long as I get some reading in for the day, I'm happy! Glad you stopped by from Bonnie's blog!
