WEEKLY ROUND UP II: CURRENTLY READING, SHOPPING, LOVING

This post is part of a series I started last week of just everything I’m currently reading, shopping for, listening to and loving this week! I always love seeing what other people are enjoying so I wanted to share what I’m into lately too.

This past week was a little all over the place for me because Andrew was traveling a few days for work but overall it was well. In the last few months, I’ve really been trying to be more mindful of how I talk to the girls and interact with them but this past week was the first week I truly saw improvements in myself.

Instead of having huge meltdowns like they typically do, their attitudes shifted and they weren’t as (for lack of better word) dramatic. I’m wondering if they notice my attitude change too and are feeding off of that. It’s unreal how much kids watch and learn from us parents and I never want to be the reason my children scream because they’re frustrated or give up because they don’t think they can do something.

I always have appreciated the phrase “Do what I say, not as I do” but I’m quickly learning with children they need a parent with a mindset of “Do as I do” instead. Anyway, just a little food for thought since it can be hard to parent alone when your significant other is gone.

Currently Reading:

I finished The Happiness Project last week and I dang near highlighted just about the whole book it was so good. Every month I make goals for myself so it really helped me hone in on what kinds of goals I want and has me dabbling with the idea of doing my own Happiness Project someday. Have you done one before? I’m curious to hear from someone who has. I think this book is also one of the reasons I’ve shifted my attitude and parenting with the girls too.

This book is filled with so many gems of quotes but here are a few that stuck out to me:

“One of the best ways to make yourself happy is to make other people happy. One of the best ways to make other people happy is to be happy yourself.”

“What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while.”

I am also in the middle of listening to 12 Ways Your Phone Is Changing You on Audible and it’s a very interesting book. It’s a faith based book and pretty heavy in discussing Christianity but there’s a lot of pieces in it that make me think twice of how our phones really have an impact on us in this day and age.

Recent Purchases:

I needed to get a few new swimsuits for our upcoming trips as well as Amelia’s swimming lessons next month and I couldn’t get over the cuteness of the ruffles on this one (I got the blue one)! It’s such a cute piece at an affordable price! I also saw this one on one of my style icons and knew I had to have it. Another super affordable price for a super cute suit!

We’re going to the beach in a few months and I always have to wear hats because my face gets so burnt so quick. I scooped up this one and can’t wait to wear it with everything that week!

I have a love for overalls since I got my first adult pair last year but haven’t bought another pair since. I finally caved and bought this pair of overalls. I just love the cute little buttons down the front! I have a feeling I’ll be wearing these all the time this spring and summer.

I’m like a kid at Easter and always like to get a new dress that I’ll be able to wear all spring and into summer. When I saw this modest one, I thought the color was perfect! Fingers crossed it fits as perfect as it looks!

I also picked up a new pair of sneakers last week for our trip to Disney (even though I’m already breaking them in now) and they’re so cute and go with everything. I love a good pair of kicks to run around in and these are perfect for that!

Other Random Things:
I got these frames for a gallery wall I’d like to do in our front hall and they look just like the beautiful ones from Framebridge except for much cheaper! I only bought one pack (of three) so far because I wanted to make sure they weren’t too big and looked good in that space but now that they’re here, I can’t wait to see them with black and white pictures in them and up on our walls!

Homegoods has some of the cutest Easter baskets and I picked up two cute ones for the girls for their Easter egg hunt this year! The baskets have a little bunny face on the front with floppy ears and a big ole cotton ball on the back for it’s tail. It actually looks pretty similar to this one without the tulle on the bottom!

Andrew and I went on a Valentines Day date on Sunday night for sushi and a movie. We saw The Greatest Showman and now like everyone else I am OBSESSED with the soundtrack. I can’t stop blaring it in my kitchen and dancing to the fabulous songs!

What have you been up to? Have you found something fabulous that you bought recently? Do share!
