in an attempt to stop spending $20 on this season’s “hottest sweater” every year only to find out it will last just one season because it was cheaply made, i’ve tried being more intentional on where i put my money in my wardrobe. for me this means spending a little more money on good quality pieces that will last for many seasons! especially when it comes to sweaters or things that i like to cozy up in year after year, nothing is worse then pulling out a sweater for season two of wearing it only to find out it’s pilling or has a hole in it because it wasn’t done right or shouldn’t have been washed because now it can fit my three year old (anyone else remember that full house episode?).
i started last year searching for good classic pieces for my closet and it’s carried on in to this summer. all five of these items i have and absolutely live in all fall and winter long. granted our fall season doesn’t really come until october at the earliest but i definitely wear all these pieces throughout the winter, make no mistake about that.
black faux leather backpack – i am finally to the point with my kids that i don’t need a lot of stuff for them when we got out and it’s so nice! i love that this backpack will make me hands free and is such a classic for fall!
camel knit cardigan – i picked this one up in the nordstrom anniversary sale and it’s so cozy and soft. really it just feels like a giant blanket is wrapped all the way around you and i love it so i already know i’ll be living in this when it gets cooler. i have a couple of these long cozy knit feel sweaters and i am constantly in them when it’s cool outside.
gray grapevine tunic – this top is my favorite to wear with a bralette because you can wear it a little off the shoulder and it’s just so pretty. super cozy and long so you never have to worry about your butt showing. i wore mine with either skinny jeans or leggings all the time last year.
distressed jeans – i feel like this is a staple in every woman’s wardrobe but distressed jeans just go with everything. and i hate jean shopping but i heard so many great reviews about this brand so i ordered a pair and they feel like heaven. i think (dare i say it?) that i finally found a good brand of jeans!
army green parka – this isn’t the same one i have because i bought mine last fall but this is dang close to mine. the army green color matches anything because it’s so versatile and i love pairing mine with distressed black jeans and booties for a date night. but then you can also turn it around and throw it on with sneakers and leggings for errands. it’s a fun jacket to play with!
